Bro. Barrett surrendered to God's call to preach in September 2008 at Friendship Baptist Church in Highland, Arkansas. Since then he has served in a variety of ministries. He helped a church planter plant a church in Fayetteville AR for 2 years, then accepted a role on staff at Calvary Baptist Church in Edmond, Oklahoma as Youth Pastor.
In March of 2016 God moved the Harrelson's to King's Hiway Baptist Church to be the Senior Pastor. Since then God has been blessing with souls saved and church membership growth.
What's different about KHBC?
Well... to start things off, we here at King's Hiway Baptist Church don't like religion! Yes, technically we check the "religious institution" box on the tax return forms, but we aren't about the typical "religious concept". King's Hiway Baptist is all about Jesus and the Hope that He brings to the world. Christ doesn't give us a set of rules to follow in order to gain a better standing with Him, we can't do anything on our own to satisfy God! Christ wants an intimate and joyful relationship with Him. Christ came to give life to mankind, but more specifically, "abundant life." Come join us as we join this journey of following Jesus together!
King's Hiway Baptist Church was planted in 1972 when the fields around were all crops. The view from the front of the church was corn fields and the back sunflowers. Today much has changed with McPherson, Kansas, being a growing town neighborhoods surround the church. The vision for King's Hiway has always been people. With our lively Bus Ministry to serving folks at the Brookdale Senior Living center to making hospital visits. We care about people. Our goal and desire to be a blessing in our community.
What We Believe
Everything we do, everything we teach, and everything we believe is based solely upon the Bible. Our passion is to share the hope of Jesus with everyone we come in contact with. Our focus is Chapel Hill and the Research Triangle. Our goal is to spread this message of hope through the world.
Our church beliefs about the Bible, God, Jesus, Man, and Salvation can be summed up below:
We believe that the Bible is God's love letter to us. We believe that the Bible is perfect, full and complete, and contains no errors. We believe that the Bible is the only authority in which to operate the church and our lives.
(2 Timothy 3:16, 17; 2 Peter 1:20, 21; Hebrews 1:1-2; Jude 3; Proverbs 30:5-6)
We believe that there is only one true and living God and that God is the ultimate Creator of the world. We believe that God exists eternally in three Persons: The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We believe that God has a love for mankind that is incomprehensible and that God wants every person to have a personal relationship with Him.
(Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19, 20; 2 Corinthians 13:14; John 4:24)
We believe that Jesus Christ is God's only begotten Son that was sent to earth to be the perfect sacrifice for the sins of mankind. We believe that Jesus died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sin, was physically resurrected, and now offers a restored relationship with God to all who believe in Him. (John 3:16, Acts 2:22-39, Romans 3:21-24)
We believe that man was specially created by God in order to worship and give him glory. We believe that God created man with a free will but man chose to disobey God which resulted in separation from God. We believe that because of sin, every person is born separated from God and on a path to hell, but because of the hope of Jesus, man doesn't have to remain on that path.
(Isaiah 43:7, 21; Psalm 96:9; Matthew 4:10, Romans 3:23, Romans 3:10)
We believe that because of sin, mankind is separated from a perfect and Holy God. God does not send anyone to hell, God sent His Son Jesus to bring hope and rescue mankind from Hell. We believe that true salvation is the sole trust and belief that Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven. If a person repents of their sin, places their faith and trust in Christ by confessing with their mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord, then based upon the promises of the Bible, mankind's relationship with God is restored.
(Romans 5:12, Romans 6:23, Romans 4:8, Romans 10:9-10)
